The human body is meant to MOVE.
Not just an hour here and there of intense "exercise" at the gym, pounding weights or spinning. We are programmed at the basic cellular level to be in motion: to be hunting and gathering, squatting and lifting and running from danger.
Today, we SIT. We sit at our desks, in our cars and in our recliners in front of the TV.
When we encounter a dangerous situation, be it real or perceived - a near miss on the highway, a verbal threat or a job loss, our typical physical reaction is to freeze. We aren't encouraged or even able to use the adrenaline that is pumping through our body. This fight or flight response kicks in but there's nowhere to run. The acid created from situations like this, from our daily misaligned holding patterns and from physical and emotional trauma gets trapped in the fascia, eventually creating what Katy Bowman likes to call "sticky spots that interfere with joint mobility and muscle function."
Every True Body™ alignment session utilizes a combination of long held deep stretches targeting specific areas of fascial restriction.
We work on a yoga mat and all of the tools are provided: a half cylinder, block, strap and Roll Model Therapy Balls.
The foundation of every session is to empower you to listen and trust your body and allow expression in movement.
